Facta est Lux – Human Rights Institute is an independent, nonprofit, research- and action-oriented civil society organization that connects determined individuals and communities to advance the realization of human rights. A clear understanding of rights and the upholding of human dignity empowers changemakers. Therefore, we work to translate legal standards into everyday reality with sustainable impact.
Rooted in international human rights law and aligned with global norms, we deliver evidence-based research, high-level training, strategic policy analysis, and tailored advisory services to strengthen individuals, communities, and institutions. Our operating model and organizational culture distinguish us. Functioning coherently as a collaborative force, we are a connective hub. We bring together scholars, practitioners, civil society leaders and advocates, youth innovators, policy professionals, and private-sector actors.
At FEL-HRI, we believe that when rights are fully understood and dignity is consistently upheld and embedded in systems, changemakers are empowered to lead principled, lasting change.
Mission
Making Human Rights a Living Reality
Human dignity is non-negotiable. It constitutes the foundation of all human rights. Yet, too often, a gap persists between constitutional guarantees and lived realities. Facta est Lux – Human Rights Institute works to close this gap by advancing, promoting, protecting, and supporting the implementation of universally recognized human rights.
We transform knowledge into measurable impact. We provide interdisciplinary research, legal education, policy engagement, capacity building, and the co-creation of solutions. We translate legal standards into practical frameworks that function effectively in real-world contexts. We strengthen human rights literacy, promote dialogue and engagement, foster accountability, advocate for institutional reform, and convene diverse stakeholders.
Our mission is to achieve measurable and progressive impact in times of uncertainty and change. We lead primarily by embedding dignity within systems and institutions, rather than solely defending it when it is threatened. We serve as a consistent and sustainable force, advancing the realization of human rights for everyone, everywhere.
