In the contemporary context of global and regional conflict, the need for peace leaders grounded in a human rights–based approach has become increasingly evident. In response to this demand, FEL-HRI was invited to deliver specialised training to strengthen the ethical and normative foundations of peace leadership. On 1st of February 2026, 20 young peace leaders attended training at the school centre Saint Michel in Brussels.
The training was conducted by Dr Elizabeta Kitanovic, CEO of FEL-HRI, within the framework of the Dialogue for ALL project, which is affiliated with a Brussels-based educational institution. The programme focused on integrating the principle of human dignity as a central element of peace initiatives and negotiation processes.
Participants included youth peace leaders representing diverse religious and interconfessional backgrounds. During the training sessions, participants engaged in substantive discussions on the values, competencies, and responsibilities required of peace leaders to design and implement effective, sustainable peace initiatives.
The exchange of perspectives underscored the importance of inclusive dialogue, respect for fundamental rights, and ethical leadership as essential components of contemporary peacebuilding.
